My Story

Hello to all! My name is Jill and I am actually transitioning from a past blog (blogspot is too unpredictable for me!) I am pretty new to the blogging game, but here is my story of life before and after “wellness.”
The Current Jill:

At Blueberry Hill in STL

I am a 24 year old masters student in the field of Industrial/Organization Psychology; basically HR, just a more snooty sounding title ๐Ÿ™‚ I am BEYOND excited to be done with school in May and although being in grad school is basically a full time job (and not always a fun one) I always make time for enjoying life. I currently work at Banana Republic to pay the bills, and get clothes at 50% off!! I love clothes so that will definitely be leaking into this blog. My goal past grad school is to get a job as a wellness consultant of some kind, i.e. building health promotion programs in organizations and helping people work towards a more healthy and happy life. Although I consider myself to be a pretty healthy person, I am currently working towards delving into the world of more healthful cooking. I workout around 6 days a week and am also looking for an outlet to share my tips and tricks on staying in shape. I am beyond blessed to have met the love of my life, Joe, in my masters program. Since we met we have encouraged each other to excel in everything we can, including a more healthy lifestyle. We love to cook for each other (although he is a MUCH better chef than myself) and chat about our workouts and fitness goals. I know I am very lucky to have a partner in crime in this fitness game and hope to possibly serve as that for anyone who doesn’t have it! Of course I can always use more help and am so excited to build friendships with my fellow bloggers.

The Old Jill:

My College Low Point

Growing up I was always a healthy kid, but unfortunately like many other young girls, I developed a binge eating disorder in high school that I struggled with on my own until finally reaching out for help my second year of college. I even had to go as far as ย leaving school for a semester to take care of myself. This was such a low point in my life, I was living an unhealthy lifestyle which was not only affecting me physically, but mentally I was dealing with depression. After attending therapy and with the help of my family and friends I was able to turn my life around. Since then, roughly 5 years ago, things haven’t always been easy. I feel like I FINALLY got everything under control about a year and a half ago. I found it extrememly difficult to be as healthy as I would have liked in college with my partying schedule. I look back and have no regrets, but I am happy to have grown up and no longer live that life of excess drinking and socially smoking (besides health wise, depression and binge drinking are not a good combination).ย  After leaving those ways behind, I have been working towards enjoying every second of life and becoming the person I always wanted to be! Looking back, I feel like every year gets better, I am loving growing older and maturing into who I am now. My current goal? To be the BEST I can be every day and share the message of fitness and health to anyone I can.
Outlook for My Blog:
I will be documenting new recipes I try and sharing ones that I already have.
Letting you in on my gym tips and tricks.
Talking about fashion, school, my puppy, celebrities, etc, anything else that currently strikes my fancy!

  12. Hi Jill
I am so excited about your blog. I’m 17 years old and I suffer from Binge eating disorder. I havent been diagnosed and no-one knows, friends and family wise, but I am getting there. At the moment I’m working on stopping the bingeing and at the moment I am having about 2-3 non-bingeing days a week which is great! It’s soooo good to find a recovering binge eater with a blog, so I can use all their tips and hints.
